Two Passions

She walked up to the exhibit booth in ethnic dress and inquired, “Are you the broadcast people?”

I then repeated what I had said to hundreds of other booth visitors: “Yes, we are World Mission Broadcast (WMB), the Church of the Nazarene’s radio, television, Internet, texting, and podcast ministry...”

She politely listened to my prepared speech and then said, “I am Gertrude, the one who does the women’s radio program in Papua New Guinea (PNG).”

In that moment I realized I was talking to the very person whose stories we have been telling for years. Here was the person who records programs on cassette tapes and takes them, along with hand-crank cassette players, to women in poor, mountain communities where they have no electricity so they can hear the Good News. She is the one who leads a team of women who write, produce, and air a radio program called Krai Bilong Ol Meri (KBOM), which means Cry of Women.

That day standing there in the exhibit booth Gertrude told us about her passion—a passion for telling people about Jesus. She also has a passion for broadcast, and she combines her two passions into a ministry that is making a difference in the lives of people in PNG. The radio program, KBOM, is so powerful and effective that, while it is aimed at women, many men have heard it and are now believers in Jesus.

When you give to World Mission Broadcast, you fund Gertrude’s efforts to share hope with people in her country. By being involved in WMB, you make it possible for people in the mountain communities of PNG, and people in hundreds of other villages and cities around the world, to have an opportunity to meet Jesus Christ. Your ongoing prayer support and financial giving is what will allow Gertrude and her team of women broadcasters to continue airing KBOM! Thank you.
