Ethiopia – First Somali Radio Program Goes Live
Peet Voges, Regional Communications Coordinator for Africa, reported that radio ministry in Ethiopia kicked off at the end of March 2003 when their first program in the Somali language went on the air. “The production team has been working hard” according to Voges, “and they have been producing programs since November 2002.” The first twenty 15-minute programs were delivered to Trans World Radio (the international broadcaster who transmits many of World Mission Broadcast’s African programs) in February 2003. Plans are under way to start two new programs by October 2003.
Voges shared that he had received word from the Ethiopian production team that the first programs received a very good response from listeners. He also asked that we pray for this radio team as they often are in danger because of their commitment to Christ and their Christian faith.
